Three major fascist dictators took power during the 1920s and 1930s in Europe, among other lesser known fascist nations. You are to select one of these three to focus on in a mini-research project: Mussolini in Italy, Franco in Spain, or Hitler in Germany.

HW 9.3 – Democracy vs. Communism vs. Fascism

After World War I the world was plunged into economic instability which only worsened by the 1930s because of the Great Depression. With unemployment at historic highs in nation after nation, many people turned to radical ideologies for solutions.

Geopolitical competition over which ideology and which nation would dominate the world led up both World War II and then the Cold War.

You are to make a comparison chart titled “Democracy vs. Communism vs. Fascism.” Each category should have the following information:

1. Definition

2. Example nation that followed this ideology

3. Example of this ideology in action in this nation

4. Image related to this ideology

EXTRA CREDIT: Make this chart full poster size and provide more information along with at least 3 images for each ideology.


Extra Credit Homework

This week’s homework will be for extra credit due to the OGT schedule.

You are to select a subject from the list below to make a one page comic strip about something relevant to the topic. The comic should take up at least one full page but may be longer if you’d like.

The amount of extra credit you earn will be dependent on the quality of work.

HW 8.3 – Women and the Russian Revolution

One of the things that set the Bolsheviks (later the Communist Party of the Soviet Union) apart from other organizations of the time was their commitment, at least in theory, to women’s equality. Yesterday, March 8th, was International Women’s Day, a day annually celebrated by the Soviet Communist Party after the success of the 1917 Russian Revolution.
